The challenge

A European project has a lot to say and little time

Problem

Funded projects pile up goals, partners and outcomes. Telling everything is the fastest way to make nothing stick.

Decision

We chose what the audience needs to grasp, and left the rest for the documents. The edit serves the message, not the report.

The piece

Inside the video

The client wanted to show the technical work on the ground, with the project's machines and people.
The laser cutting machine in action, making the garments.
Testimonials from the people doing the work, subtitled to watch without sound.

The production decisions

Why always subtitle

Much institutional video is watched without sound, on phones and in feeds. Without subtitles, the message doesn't get through. And in a European project, subtitles are also the gateway to other languages.

How to film a technical project without making it dry

By filming people doing, not objects sitting still. The gesture explains better than the description, and gives the piece a rhythm that voiceover alone wouldn't have.
