Wordpress or a site built in code
The pros and cons of Wordpress and a coded site, and how to choose the right one for your project.
There’s no absolute winner, only what makes sense for your case. Both options build good sites. The difference is in how they behave later, day to day.
Wordpress, when it makes sense
Wordpress is quick to get started and easy to update without knowing how to code. If you publish content often, run an active blog or want to edit the site yourself, it gives you that freedom. In exchange, it tends to pile up plugins, get heavier and demand maintenance and security updates. Left unattended, it slows down.
A coded site, when it pays off
A site built in code is lighter, faster and more secure, because it only carries what it needs. It runs well with little maintenance and usually behaves better on Google. In exchange, every structural change goes through whoever built it, so it calls for a relationship of trust with the people who make it.
How to choose
If you need to touch the content every day and want full autonomy, Wordpress fits. If you want speed, security and a site that ages well with little maintenance, code pays off. Often the right answer depends on who will look after the site once it’s live.
