Social videos that grab you in the first seconds

How to use editing and motion to hook attention right at the start, the moment that decides if a video gets watched.

On social media, a video lives or dies in the first three seconds. It isn’t the footage that decides, it’s what the edit does with it. Here’s what we work on in post-production to grab attention from the very start.

The opening shot has to earn its place

The opening moment is the most important of the whole video. Start at the peak, not with an intro. In the edit, we pick the strongest frame for the beginning, cut any preamble and get straight to the point. If your video opens with a logo or a pause, the viewer is already gone.

Movement guides the eye

A static video on social disappears into everything else. With motion graphics, we add rhythm even to simple footage: text that comes in, elements that stand out, transitions that keep people watching. Movement isn’t decoration, it’s what stops the thumb from scrolling on.

Captions and rhythm do the rest

Most people watch with the sound off, so captions aren’t optional. We work on dynamic captions, synced to the speech, and a cut that breathes at the right pace. Every shot has to earn its place, neither too fast, which tires, nor too slow, which bores.
